Dear Property Management Professional:
- Summer Lifeguards 2000 -
We Are Prepared!
Superior Pool Spa & Leisure Ltd. - Year 2000
Mission Statement: "Superior Pool, Spa & Leisure Ltd. will be regarded as the
leader of the swimming pool industry and will out service the competition through
integrity, teamwork, innovation and enpowerment. We will continually cultivate the growth
of our employees and will improve value for our customers."
As you may well be aware, there is a
shortage of lifeguards nation-wide, as has been reported in numerous radio &
television broadcasts, and in national and local newspapers. Canada's economic growth,
particularily in Toronto, has provided not only a boom in the retail industry but in other
fields as well, such as computer technology. Today's youth have many more job
opportunities available to them accompanied by very attractive renumeration packages that
up until the last two (2) years was not a concern for organizations that hire and place
lifeguards.
In spite of these problems, our goal remains the same: to provide the highest quality of
service to our clients. In our efforts to overcome the lifeguard shortage plaguing the
industry, we have expanded our in-house training department and recently hired an NLS
Instructor Trainer. This Trainer will be able to certify our personnel, thus help ensure
that we have an adequate supply of Lifeguards. We have set an aggressive course
schedule to provide courses in all geographical areas. We conduct courses year round.
Our training courses go beyond the usual NLS Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications.
We will be conducting five hour training programs geared to make the lifeguards aware of
our expectations and those of our clients.
We will be offering lifeguard candidates higher wages that are more comparable to
other similarily skilled jobs (summer time) in the work place. Higher wages will
attract more people to apply for positions with us, and allow our staffing department the
flexibility of being able to select and choose the more mature, responsible and
conscientious lifeguard candidates to place at your facility.
Are you prepared for the 2000 summer season? We recommend that you re-visit your
annual swimming pool operational budgets now and change your budget from your 1999 numbers
to reflect an increase in your lifeguard costs by approximately $ 3.00 to $ 4.00 per hour,
for your lifeguard services.
We have also restructured the responsibilities of our Road Supervisors. In order to
increase the ammount of time they will have available to spend at each individual pool,
Road Supervisors shall only be responsible for on-site visits and all scheduling will be
completed by our newly expanded staffing department.
It is our hope that you will allow us the opportunity to provide you with a
responsible management quotation for the year 2000 and beyond. Thank you for your
consideration.
Sincerely,

Howie Kirshenbaum,
President
Superior Pool, Spa and Leisure Ltd.
